Hi everyone:

Can anyone recommend a nice hotel to say in while I come visit in June? The La Quinta at the Norfolk Airport didn't seem too expensive and got good reviews. Anyone have any thoughts? Thanks, Rosemary

Most of those hotels are fairly new. The Holiday Inn Express is as well. I believe it's the newer one near the Hilton.

Thanks. I've also been finding out that if I wait until after Labor Day the rates go waaaaay down.

Yes, they do. Labor Day marks the end of tourist season, since the kids go back to school.

Local hotels make list of "10 dirtiest"
'Tropicana' and 'Super 8 at the Ocean'
The list is based on TripAdvisor traveler ratings for cleanliness.

The Tropicana Resort Hotel at 1719 Atlantic Avenue took the number 3 spot and the Super 8 Virginia Beach/at the Ocean was right behind it at number 4.

The hotel tripadvisor considered the dirtiest is the Heritage Marina Hotel in San Francisco, California.

I can highly recommend the LaQuinta near the Airport. The rooms are lovely and comfortable, and the staff is great.

I have also stayed many times at the Best Western Holiday Sands on Ocean View. It is right on the beach Chesapeake Bay with lovely views. It has received mixed reviews on trip advisor, but I have always felt very safe there, and found the staff to be very accomodating. I am older, and usually travel alone.

If you are looking for a place to stay for an extended period of time which is very reasonable priced, there is the Hazel Inn in Chesapeake where I have also stayed. Let me know if you would like more information.

Hi: Yes the LaQuinta Inn is one place I was looking at and I think I looked at a Best Western but can't recall where it was exactly. My thought is to come after Labor Day as the prices will drop. Thanks for your input
