I am looking for an extended stay hotel or facility for the first three weeks of December. I would like to keep the cost as reasonable as possible, but still be safe and convenient. I am a senior, and walk with a cane, so cannot do a lot of stair climbing.

I have looked at Craig's List, and they list Savannah Suites (in Hampton, Newport News & Norfolk) for about $199 per week. There is also another listing for a place on Hardy Cash Blvd in Hampton. However, when I look at Trip Advisor, the reviews are mixed, especially in terms of safety.

Does anyone of any experience with any of these places or with other similar facilities. I would greatly appreciate any feedback you can give me.

Maryann

I prefer Residence Inns myself. Have you checked them out? They do have first floor rooms with kitchens.

During the off season/winter many of the hotels and motels at the Virgina Beach oceanfront discount their rates. Many people do extended stays at beach hotels during the winter. You may want to look into that.

Depends on what side of the water you'll be on. When I sold my home in Va Beach a few years ago I stayed at the Extended Stay near Greenbrier in Chesapeake. The extended stay in Va Beach off of Bonney Road is close to VA Beach Town Center, highways, and safe. I've always directed clients coming into town to these as well while awaiting their home to close or rental to be prepared...

Im not a big fan of the one's in Hampton/Newport News. I would stay away from the really cheap ones.

Candlewood Suites is also another good one, there is one in the Greenbrier area also. Remember, many times these extended stay hotels will negotiate unadvertised lower rates for longer stays. I'm about to do the same in NC.

Good luck with relocating! Let me know if I can be of help....I'm actually going to VA Beach next week! Looking forward to it...
