Ever since I was laid off, I have been much more sensitive to the prices of these items since I have to pinch pennies. My Crew hair cream is $14 + tax and gillette blades $8 and some change for 4 cartridges. WTH?!! I'm going cremeless and shaving less now, but why should I have to? Anyone know why they cost so much?

How do you think King Gillette got to be the King?? Took a piece of metal, sharpened it and fit it into some type of holder/shaver and made the blades replaceable. The only thing on the market till then was the straight edge razor. Then Shick wanted their share of the Kings wealth and got some too. hehehe

Yes,Gillette is rather expensive, but I'd rather buy a better razor. I tried the cheap razors and my legs got cut up and the shave was not as good. I am thinking of getting an electric razor.

LOL. I was thinking the same thing today. I too use Crew hair gel and creme and Gillette razors and they both are on the expensive side. I love my Crew gel and Gillette really is the best a man can get (on his own) so there's not much really I can do. I dont do the 4 razors thing, I stick to what I believe are the three blades but it really is better than anything else out there. Cheap razors cut me and dont leave me as smooth as the nicer blades. Therefore, I cant cut back on either hair gel or razor.

I never use creme to shave my legs. I once read in a beauty magazine that shampoo was just as good as creme and thats what I've using using to shave my legs with ever since. It works just fine, and its usually only a dollar.

I use olive oil. Gillette does make a pretty good blade...Ugh...I am about to buy and old school strait razor because I can sharpen that thing forever...My grandpa used to shave with one of those and we would watch in horror as he would try not to giggle.
But I don't thing I can finangle that stait razor in my pits!

Find a cheaper alternative...I agree that suave keeps getting better and better with the knock off stuff.
The cost is because:
a. you will pay it
b. research and development fronted from capital of the name brands
c. package (the most $$ part of a product)
d. adverts (just call your paper and ask how much it is for even a local paper page. Its nuts)

Ever notice how much cheaper and thinner the knock off brand stuff is when looking at the container?
