Oh how I wish I would have held on to a lot of firearms I've owned. On today's local Shoppers Guide, I saw ads for a 6" Colt Pyton $2,500.00! I paid $225 for mine brand new in 1976, traded it in 1990 for a boat. An M1A1 carbine, $3,500! A Marlin 30-30, $350. Are these prices a bit crazy?

I think it's going to take a long time for prices to settle. One area I have seen them go way up is mil surp firearms, such as many of the bolt rifles like Mosin Nagants and Mausers. Lee Enfield rifles are as rare as hens teeth now. M1 Garands are up anywhere from $700 to $1500.

Many people feel we are gearing up for some heavy duty action like we did from 1770-1774. The British in 1774 banned the importation of firearms and moved to seize firearms and powder which triggered several armed confrontations that resulted in the Revolution. A lot of people don't want to be left without a say(a gun rather) if something like that does kick off. Hence the supply is drying up and prices are way up because of demand.

A good time to be in the firearms manufacturing business.

Prices rise and fall on alot of stuff and things like guns are a hot point taht really strike a nerve with folks. Aa soon as it is whispered or in the case of guns shouted that something might not be around anymore or they will be legislated inot oblivion people go nuts.
Remember when Hostess went under. I saw people on Ebay selling and people buying $5 boxes of Twinkies for $30 and up. CRAZY Wish I had bought some before the crash.
Gold is the same way the way that took off due to the economy.
I collect trains and the price of track doubled when China started buying up all the worlds brass and making it expensive.
Supply and Demand.
I think it is the same way with guns. Supply and Demand and mixed up with outright fear fueled by the anti gun Obama agenda and the media.
I wish someone in my family back in the day thought to buy and bubble wrap a split window vette. LOL

Even thou prices are high I do not think they are selling any. I see a lot of gun dealers with stock that does not seem to move. People are cheap right now, many offer 20% on your asking price.

Yes, guns are selling for more than they should right now, but bear in mind that what you're seeing is ASKING prices, not selling prices. I could list my Glock 27 for $3,000 if I wanted to, but that doesn't mean that anyone would pay it.

The only things that are REALLY inflated are EBRs. They're going at retail for 2x MSRP, at least around here. Private transactions aren't as bad, and prices have been falling in the past few weeks.

What I'm really irked about is the ammo situation. Even bulk .22 is sold out everywhere - .22!!! THAT is what's crazy.

EBR's (when in stock) can be bought at pre-panic prices at Cabela's - and they're starting to have them with more regularity now.

What *I* am lusting after is the new Sig 1911 "Texas" edition.....one is on the way with my name on it, but it could be another month or two out....dang it!

Yes, firearms have jumped a lot recently, even new on the retail level. As long as the govt. is talking gun control etc., I think demand will stay relatively high. I've read that firearm sales have increased like 50% since 2007. I would imagine the firearms manufacturers have sent the WH Christmas cards regularly. Ammo is also limited, so make sure before making any new purchases that you can find ammo. And even if you can find it, some retailers are gouging on prices.

Pricing on common guns are coming down quickly around here. The cost of a flock 19 is back under $500. I just saw a sig Sp2022 for $469 last week.

The cost of AR's is stupid and will stay there until this BS blows over. Not too worried as I've never been interested in them. Common shotguns are also coming back down. A buddy picked up a mossburg last weekend for $325 which is pretty normal.

Stripped lowers are going for up to 500 bucks. The part that sucks is all the FFLs are screwing people over the DROS now. The cheapest I've found that will do any xfer is 85 bucks. 85 bucks for a 10 inch long piece of aluminum that looks like a kitchen tool.
