Haywood Mall will be fine. Most people who shop there aren't driving from Columbia or Charleston to do so. It is a strong regional mall, and the largest in SC. There are very few empty storefronts at Haywood Mall, and the mall continues to add higher profile tenants (e.g., Apple in 2010).
In contrast, I was at Citadel Mall in Charleston today and it was sad how many empty storefronts there are. Many of the stores which are occupied by tenants are lower-end stores that better malls wouldn't have. Be glad that's nowhere close to happening at Haywood Mall.
