Looking at a move from Asheville to Greenville, SC. Daughter is a high school senior looking for a school in or near Greenville that is diverse and/or creative and offers a good education. Her last school in N. Asheville was nearly all white, very racist, homophobic. She is white but hates closed minds. She is creative and very bright. I can't seem to find any charter schools in Greenville, SC. Am I missing something? Are there any private schools that are diverse in population and thought? Or, are they mostly weathly white kids? Any public school that is particularly diverse and also provides a high standard of education? Doesn't have to be Greenville. Could be Spartanburg or a 30 mile radius from Greenville. thanks so much.

Check into the Governors School for Arts and Humanities. Very creative, diverse, beautiful campus.

Our neighbor's son is a senior there and he is gay. Smart kid.....he loves the school.

By the way, which high school did she attend in Asheville? I'm intimately familiar with Asheville. That can help us guide you.

Greenville Tech has a charter high school. The kids there are a very diverse mix. Stay away from Riverside, mostly white, extremely wealthy kids. The school gets good ratings but it is not what you seem to be looking for.

Spartanburg District 7 is very diverse. (Spartanburg High School) Their arts seem to be good and they have very decent test scores on their honors track.

As far as Greenville... The Governor's School is by audition only (in one of these areas: Music, Visual Arts, Theater, Creative Writing, or Dance). And it is a boarding school. Also... you can't audition past sophomore year... so it sounds like your daughter is too old.

There are a bunch of charter schools in Greenville.

And there's the Fine Arts Center:
