My husband and I recently bought a lot in the Lake Keowee-Lake Hartwell area. We want to build a home with a walk out basement on the back side, ranch on the front. We probably want some standard upgrades like granite and hardwoods on the main floor. Is this possible for $150-$200/square foot. It seems every website I look at is either very high end or looks like tract housing. Does anyone know of good custom home builder?

Have you looked into upward builders? They're who I contacted about building. Unfortunately I asked here if anyone had used them and no response. Their houses range from $80-$120 per sq foot typically

Don't know if they go that far out from Greenville but I was very happy with Quinn and Satterfield - a locally owned and owner-operated company. They can build to a wide range of specs from modest homes all the way up to very expensive homes.

In your position I would research manufactured housing. My first home was basically a double wide, extra long trailer, but by the time it was set up on the lot it looked just like every other ranch house on the block. My cousin had an Acorn house in Vermont that was finished with many custom features as you suggest.
The house gets built in a factory by trained assemblers in controlled conditions with appropriate **** and fixtures and delivered to your site to be set up by factory trained crews. This usually happens in a couple of days.
You will still need a local contractor for plumbing and electrical hookups and you can expect them to build the foundation, too.
