We just moved to SC and haven't been to a liquor store yet, but noticed how early they closed and wondered why, Guess we know now.. Makes no sense that you can buy beer and wine at the stores or go sit at a Bar/restaurant to drink, but ya can't buy liquor from the ABC store after 7pm?! WTH... This state is weird.. And I thought we left the weird state

I don't drink, yet this law seems puzzling to me too. I bet a study would show most drunk drivers were at a bar drinking after 7:00, not drinking after purchasing a bottle of booze at a liquor store after 7:00. Idiots that drink and drive will get their fix, no matter how or no matter the time of day. The law about serving booze up to a certain time at night is nuts too. Don't the powers to be realize folks are going to guzzle more a few minutes before the cutoff? Makes no sense.

If there was an intelligent south Carolina politician, it would be a drastically different place.
