#1 - If in his shoes, would you take this path knowing that the truth would eventually work it's way out, or would you be truthful and earn 10 to 20 times less money??
#2 - How much are the other companies responsible for covering the truth that lead to this public meltdown?
I'm not a perfect man myself, but if Nike offered me a few million a year to endorse their shoes I'd do it without announcing my shortcomings -- just like Tiger did.
Nike is not at fault for Tiger being a hound dog. His endorsement helped them sell shoes. It probably still will. He wasn't telling us he was a saint and neither was Nike.
Sports writers report sports news. Sure, one of them could have broken the news that Tiger was unfaithful to his wife, but why? It would have been the last interview they had with Tiger, and it wouldn't have helped them get interviews with other sports celebrities. And for what? A byline in and a job with the National Enquirer?

And why would it be big companys fault as to where Tiger puts his pee pee? Just think, in a few weeks this will be forgotten and we will be buzzing about the next one.
Being an avid golfer for many years I'm going to predict that he will become a mere mortal in golf competition from here on out. I think he'll win far fewer tournaments than he has previously. Why? Because all good touring pros can hit a golf ball 300 yards down the middle of the fairway or drop a 7 iron ten feet or closer to the pin from 180 yards out, but putting is a mental skill. It's sinking that ten footer that is the difference between winning and finishing in the middle of the pack. Putting is Zen. Putting is mental focus with a clear mind. I don't think Tiger will have a clear mind from here on out and his ability to win will be severely compromised.
I did some caddy work on the old Nike Tour in the early 90s and you could always tell when a pro was having family problems because his putting went to hell in a handbasket. The ditches alongside the road to golf stardom are full of pros who lost their putter and never found it again. Usually after a bad divorce.
IMHO, this is the best thing to happen to golf since Caddyshack. Golf is way too dry and crusty.
