since it seems so easy to get now, and anyone can get pretty much anything they want, why not legalize them all, and let people decide for themselves (or die...)
How America Lost the War on Drugs : Rolling Stone (http://www.rollingstone.com/politics/story/17438347/how_america_lost_the_war_on_drugs - broken link)
All told, the United States has spent an estimated $500 billion to fight drugs - with very little to show for it.

I see nothing wrong with allowing adults to make their own decisions regarding what to eat, inject or inhale. All that I request is that if everything became legal that research continued to be conducted regarding drug effects, and that the research results be openly shared with everyone. That way, just like for cigarettes and alcohol today, people will at least know that they are poisoning or potentially harming themselves and not just deluded or persuaded by clever marketing or outright lies.
I don't think that's why they are fighting the war on drugs. By regulating drugs it becomes an expensive commodity. This can be fought on the surface to generate appeal but used underground to generate revenue. The richest drug dealers are essentially the ones who don't use drugs. IMO certain drugs should be legal but not all and for which and what should be a state right.
I don't know what to think about this. I've always been a legalize it type of guy, even with prostitution and gambling, the whole gambit.
I'm not so sure nowadays. I've heard that Amsterdam is considering changing the way it has handling things over there, as they're having a lot of organized crime getting involved.
Absolutely. Not only legalize drugs, but the government should give away confiscated drugs for free to anyone who's interested. This will have two main advantages: one, it takes the profits away from the drug cartels. And two, everyone who insists on doing drugs will probably take themselves out of the picture in short order--leaving everyone else to live in what would become a drug-free society. Nobody gets hurt, everybody gets what they want, and drug cartels will have to look elsewhere to make money.
(Some of you will be wondering whether or not anyone could actually make a suggestion like this in all seriousness. OK, I confess: I'm only about 60% serious).
