Worship! No. Not at all!

The inescapable fact is that in America people look up to celebrities. It may be subconciously, but they do. Celebrities are the perfect American. It isn't my fault Hollywood was born here. I prefer Cinecittà myself.

The issue with Americans is that they have been given both this idea of rugged determinism that is patently ficticious and, at the same time, they have a busy short history mixed in with big moments which precludes them to idolize those who seem more important than they actually are as their culture needs important people that require genuflection that seem to do great things. Notice how politicians who come off as celebrities are better liked than those uncomfortable in front of the camera? American culture is too big for itself and so these pop-up famous people sates an appetite for giant, monumentous personalities to sweep them into 'romantic America-land' for a while.

It is no coincidence that superhero movies are really big right now. In fact, the only superhero movie that did poorly twice at the box office is the one based on the radioactive green mutant who is a kindly scientist until he gets urinated on. Americans won't accept a fellow American, who happens to be an egghead, that can transform into a huge destructive force when he receives the usual demeaning American treatment from fellow Americans looking out for their best interests. It reminds them of themselves and how inflated their self-importance is due to technological innovations beyond their control that they profit from in small ways but enrichens those way far above them. Oh no, they'll take a traumatized super-rich Wayne Industries, Inc. guy in vengeful militaristic ghetto drag they could only dream of affording well before a fool who gets atomic on them when they deride him for being naturally passive, as passive as they are by nature, all well-trained and inculcated as they are.

Most Americans adore celebrities because they can do what the ordinary American wishes they could do and get paid. And what do celebrities do? Primp, lie, steal, pretend 24/7 and get laid while on drugs. America's wish list is very hedonistic and that is why Americans should treat their celebrities better as that sort of libertinism is what they are foisting over the world. Or do you prefer the egghead Bill Gates who enslaved everyone with this vulgar technology that allows a Mustapha into every room, privy to all sorts of things that once was private?

I'd take a vision of Hades any day over a zealous, jealous power-tripping Zeus, thank you very much.
