I don't really get it either. Maybe because I have three kids between the ages of 10 and 15, and while I love them dearly, they are very exhausting. The thought of being even older than I am now, and starting all over again having babies and toddlers around isn't very appealing at this point. Of course, I would hope that the hypothetical grandkids aren't actually living at my house! But still, even babysitting is not something I am interested in right now.
Sure, give me 20 years and my feelings may change.
But I'll bet I'm never one of these grandmas who goes insane when they have a grandchild and become convinced that the baby is the most remarkable baby on the planet and everyone wants to hear about it. I know women who post new photos of their grandchild on Facebook EVERY DAY. I wasn't like that with my own babies and I highly doubt I'll become a lunatic grandmother.
Once you've raised your own kids, you are eager for grands. Its just the way it is. You will have to live the life to understand.
