Hello....I was wondering if anyone had any kind of knowledge ( or even had heard anything of relevance ) in regards to the "Opportunity/Slum Zone" designation to the city of Sandy Springs that I believe stretches from Windsor Parkway and Roswell Road up to Mt. Vernon and Roswell Road?

So far all I really know is that it will provide the city with tax credits-and that it's caused some neighborhood residents to take offense, and, on a more practical and pressing note, some neighborhood residents to worry over decreasing property values and even a possible land grab by the city. (I have read that officials say that owner-occupied units needn't worry about such a "land-grab" scenario, but the concern is understandable.)

My hope is that part of this will include the city, or SOMEBODY, doing something positive with the former site of the Days Inn at Roswell Road and Northwood Dr., which is currently an empty lot surrounded by litter and overgrown brush, and generally looks kinda sad.

Anyone who is up on the city meetings or maybe the Sandy Springs Business Association, maybe you can help me out? Anyone in general...? Thanks in advance!
