Who wants to drive an hour just to have something to do?

Compared to the rest of the country, Waycross's cost of living is 21.20% Lower than the U.S. average. Population in July 2009: 14,725. Population change since 2000: -4.0%. Estimated median household income in 2009: $33,274 (it was $33,399 in 2000). Waycross is a great place to raise a family and enjoy the outdoors. If you are looking for 5 star restaurant's and Fifth Ave. style shopping you may want to try New York City, but you can not take the kids canoeing, fishing, or camping on Fifth Ave. If you are coming to Waycross you will find some of the most giving and kind people in the World and we will welcome you.

There is no way you can compare New York with Waycross. Apples to oranges. Waycross is a nice South Georgia town, but you should make better comparisons. Perhaps comparing it with places like Jesup, Nahunta or even Valdosta (though that would be pushing it a tad).

I know I'm late. But Waycross' economy is now booming and is rapidly expanding.
Blackshear is the ideal place to live; having great schools, great real estate and low crime.
Blackshear still has a population around 4,000 but is seeing a trend upward. The city just opened up a 3rd elementary school, which like its other two, is award winning.

Me and my twin bro were born near midnight one november night in 1977 in Waycross. All i remember is dirt roads and railroad tracks. My family moved to the relatively big city of Florence SC in 1980. LOL
