Columbus offers more opportunities IMO. It has a very diverse economy compared to Macon. IT jobs at TSYS, plenty of medical opportunities, government jobs on Fort Benning, etc. It all depends on what area you want to focus on.

Macon Has just as many jobs or places to work as Columbus what will determine your decision is what you are looking for in that city.... Macon has a large Medical presents with the 4 major Hospital in the Greater Area including Medical Center which is the second largest Hospital in the state of Ga after Grady in Atlanta. There are a lot of Companies with large operations and regional HQs in the Greater Macon Area such as GEICO, IKON, State Farm, Allstate Claims Center, Sara Lee, Georgia Farmers Bureau HQ, Etc; There are a lot of Logistics, IT and Accounting too; I'm sure you you want have a problem finding good part time jobs;it just depends on what you are looking for..... FYI: Geico has a lot of Part time Opportunities with great pay and they are actually hiring Right Now......If I had to chose I would say Macon because it has a little bit of everything you want in a Mid Size city ( amenities, Nightlife, Entertainment, Hour from Atlanta and it kind of a big college town with some many colleges and universities in the surrounding area.

Columbus is really no more than a big military town......

@ Columbus1984;I'm not going get in a Macon Columbus Battle with you But but GEICO is A fortune 500 company with the largest regional office located in Macon; which happens to employ almost 4000 people just at the Macon office and Medical Center of Central Georgia which employ about 4500 just to name a couple and lets Not Forget about Robins AF Base to the South in WR; which employs more than 30,000..... Thats probably more people than all of Columbus's Fortune 500 and 1000 companys' combine employees.....

1 Fort Benning 41,462
2 Muscogee County School District 6,200
3 TSYS 4,300
4 Aflac 4,100
5 Columbus-Muscogee County Consolidated Government 2,933
6 Columbus Regional Healthcare System 2,700
7 Blue Cross Blue Shield of Georgia 1,540
8 Pezold Management 1,500
9 St. Francis Hospital 1,470
10 Synovus 1,021

This list is compiled of the biggest employers that Columbus has to offer; Wow such huge operations and several Fortune 500 and 1000 companies......LMAO..................... @ MattJJJ, Anywhere in the Greater Macon Area would be the Better.. Choice......

Geico is primarly a call center. Macon offers no major HQ's. The companies in Columbus have international connections, namely Aflac, TSYS, and Charbroil. You apparrently forgot to mention Fort Benning which is bringing in over 30,000 people by September. That's more than the Robins employs........No need to go any further to prove why Columbus offers more......

Those are not major HQs; They don't even get major recognition; In fact some people probably didn't know anything about those companies until they read your boosting posts about columbus..... There are a lots of major and non major companies from all industries with operations or offices in Macon that offers just as much or better opportunities as those rookies; "want to be Major HQs" in Columbus; plus regardless of what your opinions are I still feel that Macon would be more of a better choice over Columbus..... Say what you want my opinion still stands......

Example: Columbus Alfac HQ only employs about 4,100, GEICO- Macon Region 3 Office Employee about 3800 to be exact; not too big of a difference being Aflac is suppose to be a HQ and GEICO-Macon is a regional office.... Plus the GEICO-Macon office is more than just a Call center; that regional office "campus" handles all area of Claims, Sales and Service operations for the Mid west and South East US Regions......

NO need to prove Columbus has more to offer because; thats something you always fail countless times to do in this post and in all the other previous post in regards to similar discussions......

Aflac is not a major company?? Do you know anything about business??? Synovus is one of the largest banks in the Southeast. Carmike is the 3rd largest theater chain in the country behind AMC and Regal. TSYS is the world's largest credit card processor. Fort Benning is one of the largest military bases in the world!!!

Your credibility just went out the window on that post. Have your opinion, but I am just stating the truth.

Macon offers NOTHING when it comes to major employers. Geico is a call center!!! It is not the HQ's.
