Yeah, I know how many major Canadian cities have consolidated with the former suburbs of the area into a mega-city in a sense. What people don't know about Halifax is that there is a strong American influence in the area and even it's Black community descends mostly from Black Loyalists that came after the Revolutionary War and War of 1812, along with runaways. Places like Hammonds Plains, Cherrybrook, Preston and parts of Dartmouth and Halifax proper(the North End) are areas with relatively high Black populations.

Really? I'd assume with its location adjacent to downtown that yuppies would be moving into lofts and gentrifying the place.

Well, according to the Buffalo forum, it would be a prime place. It's actually a densely populated part of the city, supposedly.
