I'm a Junior in Highschool looking at colleges. I'm just wondering where the friendliest people are? This kind of culture is very important to me.

Check out UW-Eau Claire in Eau Claire, WI (pop. 62,000, metro pop. 150,000). Great area, great schools, great college town, friendly people, low crime, party people. Enough said.

That depends. Typically, smaller cities/towns are friendly, but may not offer as much as bigger cities.

St. Louis is fairly friendly I think. And there are 2 major colleges in the city, as well as some smaller colleges: a technical college, community college.

But the metro population is 2.8 mil. That may be too large for you. Basically, it would help us if we had more info on what else you want. If you do choose St. Louis, it's very affordable. A decent one bedroom might cost you under $800/month, although they can be found for less than that.

What kind of nightlife are you looking for? What about sports? What kind of school? How much can you spend on housing/entertainment? All these would help us narrow it down.

I just want a major city (urban not rural- good amount of things to do and a lot of people) where nobody will flick me off or honk when I'm driving, if I'm walking down the street they may invite me into their home, and if i'm taking a bus at least one person will offer me a seat next to them, and if i'm standing in line, at least somebody will ask how my day has been going.

I doubt a major city could offer this exactly but I'd like the closest thing possible.

I don't think any major city will offer you that.

Certain neighborhoods maybe, but not a whole city.

When I went to Chicago to visit my brother, I was baffled by the different culture. I was in the elevator and these nice folks started a conversation. And on the bus everybody flashed me as mile. Friendly but not at all nosy. I want a city like this

The only one I see being really hard to find is people inviting you into their home if they don't know you. In most cities that can be dangerous, so people may be a little more hesistant.

Haha alright that was a stretch- maybe that would be more applicable to colleges and parties. But the cultural aspects other than that...any suggestions?

Muncie, Indiana has very nice people. Although the city is a bit dull.
