What are some of your favorite paved bicycle/pedestrian shared use paths/greenways? I'm interested in hearing about impressive, lesser known paths. Obviously the high line and chicago's lakefront trail are well known but what else has impressed you?

Some of my favorite lesser known trails include:

East bay bike path in Rhode Island (runs along Narragansett bay connecting providence to Bristol)

Black stone river bike path in Rhode Island (runs between an old canal, the blackstone River and a railroad passing by old scenic bridges and mills)

Shining sea bikeway in cape cod (goes along the ocean and through salt marshes and cranberry bogs connecting to downtown woods hole)

Charles River bike bath in Boston/Cambridge

Overall greenway system in raleigh-Durham (over 100+ miles. Neuse River greenway is probably the most scenic)

Charlottes little sugar creek greenway (well done greenway connecting downtown Charlotte to the city's premier park (freedom park). Nice civic spaces and plazas included in the design.

Portland Oregon waterfront bike path

Stanly park bike path in Vancouver

Good idea for a thread, but I must point out that the High Line prohibits bicycles, and anyone who's been up there would know why -- the layout is completely inhospitable to them.

Hudson River path in Manhattan is surprisingly nice and scenic.

If you leave the path at around 160th street and climb up to Washington Heights and bike over the George Washington Bridge, there's another bike path on the west side of the Hudson going north. Part of it is a road but it has little traffic, there are some short steep hills.

looking back south

Further north in Rockland County, sections along the Hudson have nice paths. Two miles north of Nyack is a 6 mile long bike path by the Hudson in a state park, the first section is flat

then it goes on small hills above. All photos mine

Island Line Rail Trail - Burlington VT area

Several miles of it are on a former railroad causeway on Lake Champlain. Views of Mt Mansfield (highest pt in VT) to the east and the Adirodacks to the west across the lake in NY. There is actually a bike ferry in the summer months connecting the ends.
