Unfortunately such an incredible looking place has so many problems with the people, crime, and cost of living.
Also, Im not exactly into all of that rain and humidity.
FYI, Ft. Lauderdale has all those problems you listed for Miami. They're not worlds apart, you know . So if youre considering Ft. Lauderdale but aren't too thrilled about Miami, I'd suggest you look somewhere else.
My personal pick would be Los Angeles. There's no place like Southern California for almost year round mild sunny weather. And if you look hard enough, you can find a place further inland (Pasadena, Glendale, etc.) thats reasonably affordable (by CA standards).
You said you don't like California culture, but you put San Diego on your list?
Now, I also dislike LA and live in/love San Diego, so I know it's possible to love one/hate the other, but if it's "California" culture altogether and just not "LA" that you dislike, let it be known San Diego does share a major aspect of "California Beach Culture," along with the traffic and cost of living (to a lesser extent).
In four years at my house, I've seen three or four. Usually when doing yard work outside....
But when I look at the weather on the mainland right now, I'm willing to take the risk of a centipede or two. Even a few days of heavy rain (we've just broken some records here). It rains, keeps our water supply high, and then a few days later we re-emerge to tropical sun and a lovely green landscape! Better than months of snow and ice!
For young people who want to escape to warm-weather, sunshine and tan women, where is the best warm-weather place to be?
LA? - Personally I would not like LA at all. Im not into the whole Cali culture thing, sitting in traffic for hours at a time, and paying a half million dollars for a shack in a run-down neighborhood.
Miami? - The beaches, nightlife, and women make it look like a dream. Looks like no other place in America. Some of the pictures are absolutely amazing. Unfortunately such an incredible looking place has so many problems with the people, crime, and cost of living. Also, Im not exactly into all of that rain and humidity.
Houston? - From what I hear its a decent city. Dont know too much about it but have heard pretty good things.
Phoenix? - Probably my personal favorite IMO. The dry heat is great for my lungs and for most peoples allergies. I love the mountains and pure sun 6 out of 7 days a week. Crime isnt too bad and golf courses galore. Cost of living is reasonable too. I dont like July and August when it gets really hot there and its nightlife isnt all that great.
Vegas? San Diego? Jacksonville? Anywhere else?
So as for me Id probably pick Phoenix or Ft. Lauderdale? Anyone else wanna add on????
You sir don't know the Cali-Way and probably never been to LA therefore you would post That.
BTW, Jax is not what I would really think of for culture for young people, lots of older folks, but its kinda blue collar.
yeah, you're pretty much right. it's a big city, so there are pockets where the demographic is young and lively, but for the most part Jax is middle aged and blue collar. And a lot of the young folk there have already started families.
LA or San Diego, with LA geared a little more towards the younger crowd. They have everything Phoenix does but with more temperate climate and beaches. More nightlife too.
