I would like a quick summary on each region of the U.S. from the regions outlined below. I would like to know about the vibe, culture, crime, etc. of each region so me and my OH can decide where to start looking Thank you!

The regions we would like a summary of are:
* New England (Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, and Vermont)
* Mid-Atlantic (New Jersey, New York, and Pennsylvania)
* Eastern Midwest (Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Ohio, and Wisconsin)
* Western Midwest (Iowa, Kansas, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, and South Dakota)
* South Atlantic (Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Maryland, North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia, Washington D.C., and West Virginia)
* East South Central (Alabama, Kentucky, Mississippi, and Tennessee)
* West South Central (Arkansas, Louisiana, Oklahoma, and Texas)
* Mountain (Arizona, Colorado, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, Utah, and Wyoming)
* Pacific (Alaska, California, Hawaii, Oregon, and Washington)

Thanks,
Jen and Marc

Just an FYI: You seem to be using the US Census definitions. Personally, I agree with this definition of "Mid-Atlantic" as it is the historic one, although I would probably add Delaware and Maryland as well*. However, a lot of people on here have very different ideas of what Mid-Atlantic means. Some include Virginia, or even North Carolina.

I'll think more in regard to your questions, but could you be more specific? It's hard to just summarize every area of the country. Where are you coming from?

*Delaware was also historically Mid-Atlantic. Maryland is historically Southern, although it's current regional identity is very debatable.

Your Pacific region is too ridiculously large to be summarized. We're talking places that are thousands of miles apart, totally different climates, cultures, etc.

Maryland, Delaware, and the DC area are Mid-Atlantic these days. New York seems a little too northern to be considered Mid-Atlantic, Mid-Atlantic is just another term for the lower northeast in my book. The south really begins at Virginia, and even though NOVA is Mid-Atlantic, the rest of the state is southern. North Carolina may look a little Mid-Atlantic if you glance at a map, but it's definitely a southern state and barely has anything in common with Mid-Atlantic states like Maryland, Delaware, etc. West Virginia could possibly be included in the East South Central group, but I really don't know.
