I'd have to guess any city in--well--America would have the most authentic American food. How can one city be more "authentic" then another when they're all in the same country?

OP, what do you consider "authentic American food"?
Frankly, I can't think of any (McDonald's, as suggested by some , doesn't count).
Any food that comes to my mind has origins outside the US and was brought here by immigrants.

So if you please describe "authentic American food", we may be able to point you in the direction of its location.

There really isn't such a thing as "American food". The US is the Borg of cuisine.

WE ARE THE BORG. LOWER YOUR UTENSILS AND SURRENDER YOUR PLATES. WE WILL ADD YOUR GASTRONOMICAL DISTINCTIVENESS TO OUR OWN. YOUR CUISINE WILL ADAPT TO SERVICE US. RESISTANCE IS FUTILE.

Gallup, NM has the highest percentage Native Americans of any sizable U.S. city. I'd thus hazard a guess it has the most authentic American food.

First of all, what is authentic American food? American food - any food for that matter - is regional. For example, BBQ is done differently in Memphis than in North Carolina; it's a New Year's tradition in the South to serve Black Eyed Peas while it's not common elsewhere. Heck, even Pizzas are done differently depending on where you are. So how can a city represents the entire US while the food itself varies from region to region?

Atlanta gave rise to Chick fil A and Waffle House.

Also anywhere in West Virginia or Kentucky will be all-American indeed. Kansas City and Memphis are also worth mentioning.

For many years the best place to get American chow was at MAMA FATSO'S GREASY KITCHEN in St.Louis but she was shut down by the board of health. I used to go there every week to get slopped. I always thought she should have had her own cooking show on PBS.
