I live in Tampa, Florida and have noticed more with my age group and below (I am 18+), that we have a little bit of an accent. This part of Florida has a lot of people from New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Massachusetts, and more northern states with distinct accents. Also there are significant Cuban, Puerto Rican, and Mexican populations here. I was told by several different people from out of state that I speak like I am from NYC with a little bit of a southern accent and pronounce certain words differently and speak very fast. I was just curious to know if there are any other places in the U.S. that have "hybrid" accents?
Definitely a lot of areas with this. From personal experience I can tell you the the bottom fifth of Ohio, Southern Indiana, and Northern Kentucky have Midwestern-Southern/Appalachian hybrids, which depending on where you are in the region can be more Midwestern than Southern or vice versa.
