Areas of your state that are made fun of, looked down upon, or have unique characteristics (i.e. accents, people).

Give statistics or polls to back it up if you can (or jokes)!

Here in MN, the most "different" part of the state is the Iron Range. People up there (they call themselves "Rangers") are extremely proud despite the economic hard times that have befallen them.

South Jersey (especially the Pinelands region, where the New Jersey Devil lives).

Yes, the affectionate nickname bestowed upon people who live in the Pinelands region is "Piney." It's a beautiful reserve, though. A great place to go camping and canoeing.

I'd rather go waste all of my money by gambling in Atlantic City!

As sad as it is to say, people come down hard on the Toledo (Lucas County) area of Ohio. Some of it can be down right vicious. Having some locals call it "The Mistake by the Lake" doesn't help its case either. If I remember correctly, one of the talk jocks up there plays the theme to Sanford and Son when bad press about East Toledo appears in the Blade.
