Los Angeles, California:

-The Music Center is arguably the most important Performing Arts Center on the West Coast, and is home to the LA Opera, the LA Philharmonic, Center Theatre Group (winner of the most Tony Awards outside of Manhattan) and the LA Master Chorale, as well as an award-winning dance program and an outstanding speakers series, which attracts heads of state and legendary artists to packed houses at Walt Disney Concert Hall – the Music Center’s fourth venue.

-LA presents more live theater than any other city, including New York, with 375 theater groups showing more than 1,500 productions annually.

-LA is the film festival capital of the world, with 50 annually. Major festivals include the Pan African Film & Art Festival (February), the Hollywood Black Film Festival (June 5-10), the Los Angeles Film Festival (June 21 - July 1), OUTFEST, the Gay and Lesbian Film Festival (July 12 - 23), the Latino International Film Festival (October) and AFI Fest (Nov. 1 -11). These festivals bring together film fans, actors and directors, and give movie lovers an opportunity to preview hot new movies as well as independent features and classics.

-LA is the epicenter for television production, with more live tapings for various shows (sitcoms, late night variety shows, cable shows) than any other city in the country.

-LA has more museums per capita than any city in the US. LA County is home to 841 museums/galleries alone. LA has some of the finest art schools in the country, and is considered at the forefront of today's contemporary arts scene. It recently was the site of Europe's largest annual art fair--the first city to be so honored (it is usually awarded to countries).

-Sports venues? Staples Center, Dodgers Stadium, LA Coliseum, LA Sports Arena, The Rose Bowl, Home Depot Center, Honda Center, Angels Stadium. Horse Racing? Santa Anita and Hollywood Park. Casinos? LA has the two largest cardrooms in the world (Commerce and Bicycle) where all the top pros play. LA also has the Auto Club Speedway which hosts NASCAR events and is has been the home to the annual X Games since 2003. Interesting to note is that LA is the only city to have host an Olympiad(2) a Super Bowl(7) and a World Cup Final.

Music: Along with NYC and Nashville, LA is one of the music capitals of the US. Countless artists formed and/or got their start here, and many musical trends began here. Concert venues: Hollywood Bowl, Greek Theater, Nokia Amphitheater, Kodak Theater, Gibson Amphitheater, Verizon Amphitheater and countless others.

-Fashion: Los Angeles is now widely considered the 5th most important fashion capital in the world after London, NYC, Paris, and Milan.
