It's not because the first Americans didn't want the monarchy we shouldn't be interested.
The USA most certainly DID have a "royal family" -- the Kennedy's.

Its all over every single TV channel and we all have Fri and Mon off work (which I am grateful for) but its just so over rated and blown up! Im from Scotland and you would seriously struggle to find a Scot who is enthused about royalty. It seems to be bigger in every other country apart from the UK.

Let's ask some of the people trapped under the rubble of what used to be their homes in Alabama what they think about the Royal Wedding. I bet they're really regretting not being able to watch it right now.

spoiled brats getting married isn't worth my time. Talk about about people that are born into wealth and didn't earn any of it whatsoever. Funny how many people portray our countries CEOs and businessmen as evil rich people but at least they worked for their money and worth.

You're right , it's one of the reasons they're so popular, but it wasn't really a royal family

Most rich people who earn their money tend to be conservative, whereas most rich people who inherit their money tend to be liberal. That's why CEOs are "evil" and trust fund babies are "philanthropic."

To Kate's credit, though, she comes from middle-class beginnings. She wasn't born into wealth.
