The St. Louis metro area has a much bigger population than the KC metro. KC has a large sprawl problem even compared with St. Louis.
Thats correct, Kansas City has less people in the metro but with more land. I loved KC when I lived there. There was always plenty to do. I havent spent much time in STL but from the time I have spent there I like KC much more. I was not pleased with the side of STL that I saw. Everyone talks about STL's bad crime problem, so thats another reason not to go!

While St. Louis does have a bad crime problem, Chicago, Detroit, Cleveland, and Cincy all have as bad crime as St. Louis. just stay away from North City and East St. Louis and it is perfectly safe. Why isn't Kansas City on this list anyway? It is as genuinely Midwestern as any other city on this list. Most of the crime in St. Louis occurs where no tourist or resident in his right mind would go to in St. Louis. North City and East St. Louis (on the Illinois side of the river) have nothing to offer anyone....so you don't have to put yourself in harm's way when trying to have a good time here. The rest of St. Louis rarely ever experiences crime. However, Kansas City seems to be doing better in its downtown areas and in general...it seemed cleaner and newer than St. Louis when I was there. Some of the best Midwestern cities you will find IMO are in Missouri.

I loved growing up and then living in Minneapolis suburbs (first Minnetonka, then Bloomington and finally Eden Prairie), and I miss the Twin Cities. Atlanta is very nice in its own way, of course, but I miss the winter! :-)
yeah, where did you go in St. Louis, most of it is dangerous, and slums.
Most of it is dangerous, and slums...ROFLMFAO! You don't know St. Louis. The only parts of it that are slums and that are dangerous are North City and East St. Louis. Quit feeding the stereotype.

St. Louis is a losing city. in everything. it's population is at -13%, it has a small downtown, most dangerous us city. no good architecture, no new development. not many good resturaunts, and the population is very small.
Detroit is a mess. It has some good parts to it, but overall, it's just an ongoing disaster.
east detroit is bad, but once you get to the downtown regions its nice and safe. like mexicantown, corktown, midtown, greektown, the new asian village area. those are all nice areas, the best food, nice architecture, bars, casinos, parks, and theatres. but your opinion is your opinion.

Have you been to St. Louis?? I don't know where you are getting your info, but St. Louis (city) is gaining population for the first time in decades. St. Louis County has always been gaining population. No good architechture? Not many good restaurants? Hmmm... Just stop talking.
