My 26 footer packed to the gills and pulling a vehicle behind it got about 9 MPG. Not the best, but better than I have gotten with a smaller gas rig before. Shoot I have made the same drive with an old Suburban (1989 3/4 ton) pulling a big boat and only got 13 MPG so a rig that sized towing another car I thought it was pretty good.
How do you get them to throw in extra days without paying for them? We will have to drop the truck off in SLC as they have no location in SE Idaho. I know they have an option to pay for extra days, but would rather they throw them in! Planning on booking online with AAA discount. Thanks!
They gave me extra days because I had to go so far to pick up their truck over the competitors (180 miles one way). Plus I was a returning customer so that helped as well.
I just completed my move. We picked up a 16 foot Penske truck in Elmsford New York and drove it out to Arizona. the truck had 175 miles on it when we picked it up! It ran perfectly and we got about 9-10 mpg out of it. We did the whole trip in 3 days with two drivers alternating at each gas stop. The governor was set to 75 mph which was okay. We would have liked cruise control for those long stretches on I40 but that was not a big deal.
In the interests of balance, we did see a Penske truck being towd by a wrecker. But just one!
Just checked U-haul and Penske for our move from Detroit to Las Vegas. Yikes. I never knew. First big move for me.
Penske was a couple hundred $$ cheaper.
I am still torn about doing it ourselves or getting a moving co. I do not want to haul furniture up a flight of stairs. (actually, I don't think I could even do some of it).
I am on a tight budget though and that would probably wipe me out.
Is there movers in the place you move to that will come out and haul the stuff in? Or is that just stupid to even ask?
This came up in a regional thread, and my advice was to contact a church in the neighborhood you are moving to that you would feel comfortable with and talk to the bishop/leadership and ask if there is anyone in their congregation who would be interested in this work.
go to the Post Office and get one of their change of address forms. They come in a little packet now filled with junk...coupons and stuff.
One of the coupons is for like 20% off a truck rental.
One of the other ones is 10% off Best Buy.
Anyone can get these change of address packets.
So if you ever need a truck or shop bestbuy....stop there first!
20% off a truck rental with who?
