Im moving approx 800 miles (Northern VA to Jax, FL) 1 bedroom condo, and not bringing any real furniture with me. What I dont think will fit in my car is my HDTV along with the clothes and boxes that I am taking.
Its a 40 inch Samsung HDTV owned since 2007, no issues at all, and back when HDTV's were "expensive" I paid 1900 for it via Best Buy.
I could probably sell it and 200 for it today, and then apply that to a new one.
Other option is to possibly pay to ship it, or fit it in my car, and ship clothes.

Would you move the TV?
Probably not.
Assuming nothing happens during the move you'll still have a seven year old TV.
As to the value of that... the MAXIMUM is the $300 differential needed to replace it.
Are you attached to it?
Are you thinking about replacing it within the next two years?
If your answer is "no" to either of the above, then sell it. This is the conclusion I came to for my 27" LCD HDTV that I purchased for $680 over five years ago.
Ditto on the TV and invest in a few of the space bags either the brand or a knock off. I am using a mover for my move next month but rather than go to my new home empty handed I got a couple of them and put my off season stuff in them and put them in the car. Lots of room once the air is sucked out of them, just remember to bring hangers with you or buy them so you can "fluff" the stuff up once you get to your new home. Heck, you may even get he TV in if you use space bags!!!!
Posted the TV on craigslist for $300, will see how it goes.
