No sign of life yet. Just wondering if they are all dead. They were terrific last fall and I cut them back in March. I live in DE and all other grasses are green by now. Is there a late variety?

Mine hasn't put out much growth this year either. Give it time. Pampas grass isn't easily killed by cutting it. You normally have to dig it out with a backhoe.

Ours is HUGE in the summer and hubby always cuts it back (when...I dunno) but I know it'll be okay. Hang in there....and enjoy it when it comes into its full glory!!

Thanks paperhouse and Akrlexee,

You saved my grasses from the chopping block. Must be a late variety but
they are finally now showing signs of life. Weird they are so late, everything else in the area is in full swing and has been for a while now. Sure glad I took your advise.

Not at all dry. Wettest spring in many years here. Our lawns are usually straw by now but this year we have to cut every 5 days to keep up with the growth.

I thought about planting pampas grass here, at our new property in the country, but after seeing what a mess it was at the last place, my husband said its too messy.

Ours are planted along the back of our property out in the open. There is another community in the distance behind us and this grass will help to disguise the rough open space in between. I like the look when it sways gently in the breeze. I would have been disappointed if they didn't survive the winter. Now I hope I'll remember this next year that they are late.

These do get huge, not something I would like close to the foundation for sure.

Not only wet, but extremely wet in NJ. Not sure how far you are from me.

We're also not having spring or summer.. we have a few burning hot days then cold wet days.
Very weird summer for all of the plants.
