i currently live in fairfax. i don't really want to leave the immediate suburbs of DC, so would living in Bethesda and commuting to Frederick be reasonable?

i am 23 and need to be near the city. dat social life is of utmost importance.

Your pretty much going the opposite way of normal rush hour traffic so as long as your doing the 9-5, M-F thing, your traffic should be good both ways. Although, I-270 does get backed up southbound in the evenings around Rockville to the split, mostly Thursdays and Fridays. I'll be waving to you from the opposite side of the road, lol.

I'll be sure to wave!

Any idea how long you think it will take me? Living in Rockville is also a possibility since it has easy metro access

Rockville would be a good place too. It should take in the neighborhood of 20-30 minutes (give or take) to get to Frederick. If traffic is flowing good, its pretty much 60-65 MPH + all the way to Frederick. Then depending on where in Frederick your working, you will add a few minutes to get to your destination.

Your welcome. Just remember, any type of accident/incident will add time to your commute. Good luck to you and wave to me from the opposite side.

Twenty to thirty minutes is taking it a bit far. It takes roughly thirty minutes to drive from Urbana to Montgomery Village (and vice versa) without traffic, so I'd expect that it takes longer to drive from Rockville to Frederick city proper. Forty-five minutes should be a better estimate.

I can get to Rockville in about 30-35 minutes from Frederick, just south of the downtown area (about 30 minutes from the ramp on Rt 85). From downtown Frederick I'd guess about 35-45, depending on traffic.

I think you would like frederick. I would lose my mind if I had to commute to frederick, but I live and work here, and it's great. downtown isn't huge, but there is definitely a vibe to it. there is also hood college.
