Looking for an apartment in a good, safe area (Frederick: apartments, to rent)

Hi all.

I am new to the area, and just came to Frederick last week for my job. I am looking to rent a 1 bedroom / 1 bathroom apartment in Frederick in the coming weeks.

One of my biggest questions is, what areas of Frederick / apartments do I need to avoid?

From the posts I have seen, it sounds like one should try avoid living close to the mall / Key Parkway area / Alternative Route 40. Would that exclude these apartments? All three are within a mile and a half of the mall.

1) Brookside
2) Overlook Manor
3) Westwinds

I am looking to for a good, safe area to live in, and I was wondering which areas I need to focus on. From what I have seen in past posts, the Ballenger Creek area seems to be a good area, but I don't know if they have any 1 bedrooms less than $850.

Any recommendations are welcome.

So most people would suggest that their friends avoid those apartments you listed. A friend of mine rents in the Kingscrest apartments and likes it very much but I don't know how much the rent is.
