Actually it put the one on U.S. 40 out of business. But great call in any event! You should take your talents to Vegas--or at least give us a sure answer on what is going to happen to the world in 2012!

The Giant on Rt. 40 closed before the Wegmans even opened.

That's still open as well as ALDI and WEIS. That's about it on that side of Frederick!

really, the best kept secret is the area just north of walkersville, if you go up main MD route 194 you'll find yourself in really nice area with farms, lovely houses and the RE prices are very reasonable. i live 8 miles north of walkersville on a beautiful road with superb neighbors and it is only 20 minutes to frederick. i would definitely check out north of walkersville, try keymar, ladiesburg, new midway area.

I have lived in Baltimore City growing up, all the way out to Western Maryland. I also lived in New Market for about 5 years. I currently live in Mount Airy and we love it! We live on the Frederick County side of Mount Airy so our kids go to Frederick County Schools. Which are great! New Market is charming and is getting quite a number of new houses built up. My husband and I used to walk main street New Market all the time and really enjoyed having that aspect.

Personally I would LOVE to live near Baker Park. It is one of my (and my kids) favorite places to walk and relax. You can't beat downtown Frederick for eateries, we have some of the best restaurants around!

I do not know enough about the Walkersville area to comment on it.
