We are currently from Illinois. Hubby is an electrician. We are considering moving. Are there jobs there for hubby? He is not union here. Currently does new residential, remodels, services, some commercial. What is the job market like for him? Is this a good area for kids? We have 3 kids- 4, 3, 8 months. I homeschool. We would want to rent first- need a 3 bedroom.

Hi mommyjnny...
What areas are you considering? Are you interested in suburbia, city or comuting from an out lying area? It will be a lot easier to help you if we know what you are looking for.

My dad worked for TXU Elecric for 33 years and did industrial/transmission electric. There is always a need for a qualified electrician! If hubby has his Master license, and he can transfer it to Texas, he will have multiple employers begging him to work for them!!

I did a search on Electrician in the FW area. Here are the results.

PDQ Temporaries

Find Jobs - Electrician Jobs in DFW, TX

Find Jobs - Electrician Journeyman Jobs in Haltom City, TX - Triangle Electric

Find Jobs - Electricians Jobs in Fort Worth, TX - Phoenix Electric

https://jobs.brassring.com/EN/asp/tg...Id=0&codes=IND

Electrician job in Grand Prairie, TX: Other careers - Yahoo HotJobs (broken link)

Find Jobs - Electrician Jobs in Fort Worth, TX

Job Links

And that's just a sample. I think you're husband would do very well here. It appears that most jobs pay between 17 and 21 dollars an hour, plus over time.

If you are not against a comute then I would suggest Aledo. It is a very nice area for a family. I no longer live there, but I really enjoyed the time we did. Of course, where you want to live depends on where your husband will be working. You said you homeschooled, so the schools are not an issue right now, but I wanted to let you know that Aledo ISD is a great school district should you ever decide to use it.
Here is a website so you can get some more info on the area.
