She meets the qualifications that got her elected: She smiles at photo ops, she talks like a Texan, she looks good riding a horse, she rarely takes a polarizing position on any subject. I've met her before. She's incredibly nice, but I'm not sure she has what it takes to truly lead a city the way Fort Worth needs to be led. Her notable elected experience was managing an administrative county office that sets little policy other than whether or not the county will block registrations for vehicles involved in outstanding red light tickets. And that office has been a mess since she left. I'm not saying it's her fault, but I have a hard time believing she ran the tax office as long as she did and the new guy came in and screwed it up completely on his own.

On the one hand, her predecessors stood by and sprawled and annexed the city halfway to Oklahoma and Abilene. The city government's finances were pretty much a dumpster fire when she was elected and everyone prior to her seemed content to kick the problems with the pension fund down the road. On the other hand, annexation has slowed, but there's still plenty of sprawl to go around and more to come with Walsh Ranch hitting its stride, finances are still a mess but have improved largely because the economy is booming, and we should see if they're serious about fixing the pension fund in the next few weeks.

I would also play devil's advocate and say that Mayor Price holds a largely ceremonial title and has no more power to push change in the city than any other voting member of the council. If there's more that she could be doing to bring more smart development to the urban core of Fort Worth, I think you may be on to something with your assessment of her performance.

That 1401 Elm (Drever) project in Dallas may never get finished in our lifetimes though. At least the grandkids may see it finished.

Panther Island Bridges completion date pushed back to 2020. I think it’s time to scrap these bridges considering previous reports that question if the bridges were structurally sound.

I would agree with you, but millions of dollars have been spent on the work thus far. Anything is possible, but I can't see TXDOT signing off on the bridge design if the structural concerns weren't satisfactorily addressed.

Unless the chart was already fixed to address this issue, it looks like everything is on schedule.

The bridges have been having issues and even changed design already, but like jbb said, I don't think TXDot would have approved these, which are already halfway done.

I think it's something else.
