I will be relocating to Fort Wayne within the next few weeks for a position I am taking in Bluffton. I am having trouble looking for apartments in the area and am confused about the surrounding neighborhoods. Because I will be working about a half an hour south I would prefer somewhere in the southern parts of Fort Wayne. I am looking for a nicer complex (but nothing too over the top and expensive) in a nice and safe area with various restaurants and stores. Can anyone give me any insight on the area and where I might look?

Ok. I will just say this now. Stay away from the southeast and southern part of Fort Wayne. Your best shot is Southwest Fort Wayne, which is very upscale but definitely worth it. As far as apartments, there are numerous places that are within reasonable price range. Look up Ardmore Road in Fort Wayne, which is an north-south arterial road. Pretty much stay west of that and you should be fine because that area has easy access to I69. I would even look west of I 69 as well with apartments off of Jefferson Road and Illinois road. There is also a outdoor mall concept called Jefferson Pointe which is really nice, especially for Fort Wayne that is by Jefferson and Illinois roads. I think you will like the area. Where are you relocating from?

Thank you...I will look into that area. We are coming from Toledo, Ohio.

I grew up in Fort Wayne and lived in the Toledo area for several years so I'm very familiar with both areas. I agree with cdr that the southwest side of Fort Wayne is where you should be focusing your search. For a comparison, I would put the southwest side of Fort Wayne on par with Monclova (or maybe parts of Perrysburg) as far as having an upscale feel to it, although SW Fort Wayne is way more developed than Monclova as far as shopping, businesses, and such. There are some large apartment complexes around the Village of Coventry area at the I 69/US 24 interchange that may suit your needs.

Mistye

For what its worth I grew up in bluffton and now live in Ossian. its about 9 miles from bluffton and 9 miles from south fort wayne.

from where i live you can get to the movies shopping groceries and most everything you need within 20 minutes.

I have lived in fort wayne and its an ok place to live, but i like the small towns where people know eachother.

we have some apartments that are new within the last 5 years. the only downside to them are they are close to railroad tracks. but they are very nice.

the person talking about bad areas of fort wayne is correct. the best is southwest or up north but that will make your commute long. we have some villas but dont know if they have any vacancies.

if you need info or a contact number for the apartments let me know and i will get them for you.
