My daughter is a waitress, besides attending college and from what she said is that right now since "season is over" and the economy is down, the eateries are on real light duty. So your gonna have to pound the pavement and search. Then your going to have to determine which eateries have the better tippers. Look for the ones where the locals usually frequent. My daughter has stated, and she works at a large chain restaurant on 41, that the Canadians and the Brits are the worst tippers. Not all of them but a lot. She always asks where they are from in her opening "hello, can I get you a drink." greeting. Millers Ale House in the Gulf Coast Mall I-75 and Alico Rd, lots of locals, tons of college students and great food, there's a hint. We have a friend working there and tips are really, really good, as long as you have the personality to promote it. Problem there might be, once your employed there you can not hangout there in your off hours, CO policy. PS, the owner is from Philly.

ok thanks when does it pick up? I assumed fall would be a good time to get a job since snowbirds head down. Is this correct?

When it starts getting cold up there they begin their migration south. The past few years the migration %'s have been down a bit. Usually mid October they start their treck down, some go back up for Thanksgiving and stay till Xmas, return until it's tax time and we all rejoice. No lines at the eateries and a big portion of the bad drivers disappear. No more right turns from the fast lane, crossing over 2 lanes of traffic. Oh happy day!
But there is another way to look at it. Where their all coming from has horrible traffic year round. We get it for only 6 months. You just learn when and where to drive and places to stay away from. My wife and I were in the Orlando suburbs last weekend visiting close friends and traffic there was pure hell. No way would I live anywhere close to there.

Tourists are always fun....We came from a cliffy river town in NE Iowa. Summer and the boats (alot of which have a few beers on the river) And then fall and the leaf lookers we were always thankful when the tourists seasons were gone. Although managing the bar/restraunt we also enjoyed when they came in. Our money was made then as I'm sure businesses around here make it in the colder mos.

There are a few restaurants who close their doors when the snowbirds head back up north and SEASON is over. Patiently waiting for the return migration of the blue hair birds the following year. Some aren't so lucky and never reopen.
