Hello! I will possibly be relocating to Fort Collins for a job. My husband and I are renters. We have a cat, and an 80lb German Shepherd. I know this is going to be difficult to find a place where there isn't either a weight or breed restriction that makes him unwelcome. I'm wondering if anyone can recommend some options of complexes without breed restrictions, or at least ones that don't restrict German Shepherds.

Any tips would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Have you thought about renting a house?

There is a rental house on my street with a Rottweiler and a Dalmation.

That would be ideal - I do plan to attempt to go that route. but I am going to be moving from Texas and it's often harder to scout out those kind of finds from a long distance. I'll have a very limited amount of time I'll be in town to find a place. Apartment communities tend to be simpler to relocate into. Not if I can't have my dog, though!

In case anyone is looking for an answer in the future - I found a complex called "The Trails at Timberline" and they have less breed restrictions than most. This is the information I got from someone in leasing: "We do not have a size restriction on dogs, but do have the 6 breed restrictions which include (Rotweilers, chows, akitas, pitbull, dobermans, and dalmations.) We require vet records on all animals, along with up to date vaccines, and license through Larimer County. All dogs must be on leashes, or on command (such as service dogs)."

They also are a very pet friendly community with great amenities so I will definitely be checking them out when it's time to relocate.

I am on the same boat. My wife and I are having trouble finding an apartment community that will allow a GSD. The only place we found is "The Trails at Timberline" but it is a bit out of our price range. Any luck?

Thank you in advance!
