Hello,

I was just curious as to how much LPN's make in Fort Collins. I have searched tons of job postings but of course the don't list base pay. I was informed that only nursing homes would hire me in FC and that for a LPN they start off at 17.00hr depending on the shift. This is hard for me to belive b/c thats what I was making at a Hospital here in California. Also, how can I obtain a Colorado License? I was told by a employer in FC that I would HAVE to have a LPN COLORADO license or they won't even interview me. Is this true? Can anyone give me a correct pay scale for LPN's in hospitals and nursing homes? Any information would be helpful. Thanks

I don't know about LPN wages, but to get a license you have to contact the Colorado Board of Nursing. I don't know their website; you will have to google it. I'm just curious: do you think those wages sound high or low? I've heard nursing wages are higher in Cali.

17 per hour may still be a bit high and to get hired it would help to be a colorado resident. Most employers resist hiring out of state. It is really true that Coloradoan's hate Californians and this makes getting any job difficult for out-of-staters. Keep in mind that colorado is a smell the roses kind of place and the pay and jobs are very hard to come by.

If they need you, they'll hire you, but there is no shortage of job applicants in Ft. Collins.

Here is a sampling of LPN jobs at Denver Health. They seem to be the only ones who post wages on their website.

10/4/2007 LPN Intermittent Plan A 9733 Denver Sheriffs Rotates/4 $15.16, $15.16, $15.16
7/9/2007 Licensed Practical Nurse 9151 8 Rehab Rotates/36 $15.93, $19.51, $23.10
5/14/2007 LPN Intermittent Plan B 8733 Denver Sheriffs Intermittent/0 $18.57, $18.57, $18.57
7/7/2006 LPN Intermittent Plan B 6787 Denver Sheriffs Rotates/0 $18.57, $18.57, $18.57

Here is their website:

Denver Health - Level One Care for ALL (http://www.denverhealth.org/portal/ - broken link)

Click on "Professionals", then on "Careers"

My guess would be wages in Ft. Collins lower, perhaps significantly. Someone a while back said $10-12/hr for LPN, but that was not verified.

I think that it sounds too high for a Colorado nursing home. Thanks for your input.

I live and work in Ft Collins. In response to Nevada's post a couple weeks ago, I posted that LPN's make $17/hr in FC b/c that is how much I made when I was an LPN (now i am a RN). That was my base pay - if I worked evening or night shift I got a shift differential of $1-$2 per hr.

im an lpn currently working for two nursing agencys, and I make $23 to $25 an hour...and I get to pick my shifts and where I work. And that comment about colorado hating california is insane that had nothing to do with if they will hire you or not. I recently moved out here and was able to get a job right away. check out med pool professionals in loveland colorado 9704612711 or interim in fort collins, they will hire you right away!!

Do you get benefits from the agencies? Or do you have to buy your own health insurance, lose pay when you are sic, and take unpaid vacation? Just curious.

The starting pay for a new grad RN at PVH is 22.50/hour. I am told that there are several positions open right now, however most of the nurses say that you have to put in an application several times before they will even call you for an interview. So I would start sending them in now so they know you are serious. Don't be suprised if they don't turn you down for an interview for the first 5-7 times you apply. Must be their way of making sure people want to work for them.
