Probably because the Falcon, if it were to relive itself, would be too devoid of all the "gotta have" options of today.

Ford Falcons back then were basic reliable transportation with nothing more than the bare essentials; they didn't have all the luxury options most cars of today come with standard that pretty much anyone really wants anymore.

Besides, why stick an old car name on a new car?

Interesting! On a couple trips to Argentina and Uruguay the last few years, I saw old 60's-style Falcon's on the streets everywhere.

Wasn't there a big Falcon assembly plant in Brazil one time?

A buddy of mine just restored a '61 Econoline Van.

144 ci. 3 on the tree, 2 seats (passenger side was an option).

This thing is basic and awesome!

I wish something like this could be produced again, but it could not.

The nanny state requires too much that adds weight and cost.

The Falcon was produced in Argentina until 1991 and didn't have much more than cosmetic changes along the way from the 1960's models.

Except that both the Falcon and the ChevyII/Nova were the brand's basic economy cars, both built to battle the VW Beetle in the late '50s early '60s. I liked my Falcons, but they were what they were.

Ford won't bring the Aussie Falcon over after watching GM have issues with the excellent Monaro/Commodore here in the US. Both the new GTO and G8 were really good cars, and the GTO was faithful to the original in concept (though it was fully modern and not retro), and yet both tanked.
