This car would be better in chases, but twin turbo I do not think will reliably work for police duty day in and day out.

Most departments will not buy all Interceptors. Most will buy a base Taurus with the police package and buy the Interceptors for special units such as highway. In NYC the highway units would get them and perhaps one or two for each precinct.

How much boos are they running on those turbos?

A turbo set up doesn't necessarily mean less reliability. A low boost turbo in a diesel engine works nearly all of the time (from a measly 1200 rpm or so usually) but can well into 160-200.000 miles.

With that said, it's also not a big deal if the turbo does blow, you'd have to replace it, yes, but the car is driveable, albeit with a lot less power.

Fleets will also be looking at maintenance and reliability costs, and recent Chrysler products lag in both areas.

I'd probably go with a RWD V8 powered Chrysler vehicle (as much as I hate them) over a AWD turbo powered Ford vehicle for police duty. Chrysler makes some horrible cars but they are also less complex in design and have a simpler drive train.

Almost all Chrysler products lag in those areas, not just recent ones.
