I am guessing the CEL was for a misfire. It is a pretty easy fix, usually the offending coil pack and plug needs to be replaced. A good scan tool will tell what code is being thrown and make fixing easier.

No knowing what the code was made me hesitant to buy it. It could have been something expensive or cheap to fix. And I am too cheap to take it to a shop for an inspection. It just occurs to me that I can take a car to most auto part stores and them test it for free. That's what I will do the next time I see a CEL.
A bit of advice if you’re looking for this particular model of F150:
They are known to blow sparkplugs out of the head which ruins the mounting tangs on the coil pack. A lot of them have time certs or helicoils installed in the head.
It just occurs to me that I can take a car to most auto part stores and them test it for free.
.......Which the seller also could have done(and probably did). Doubt that it was something simple to fix.
