Been reading several articles on this upcoming engine. It is a 1L 3 cylinder engine with dual overhead cams, variable valve timing, possible direct injection, and turbo. The goal is enough power to replace the 4 cylinder in the Fiesta so probably closet to 120 HP. What was interesting was to counter act the resonance or vibration of a 3 cylinder, they UN-balanced the shafts to make it ride smoother. That must have taken a bit of math to balance harmonics. No word yet on actual power and fuel economy but it could rival the Prius and other hybrids without the huge battery.
Oh, forgot to add that it will be mated to an 8 speed transmission.
Wonder if someone will try to install it in their Ford Festival, Geo Metro, or Suzuki Swift. Imagine a car that weighs maybe 2,000 lbs or less with a 120 HP engine.
Just checked the net and found out the Metro weighed as little as 1,350 lbs.
