Just saw these holes and I cannot ID the part. It is in the front and welded to the frame. They are near the front wheels and both parts are identical and symmetrical. The one with the bigger hole in it has nothing in it that I can feel. They look like they are just welded open spaces that are part of the frame.

A concern?
Thanks!
Jason

wow sounds like you are having lots of trouble with your Expedition but then again it is 11 years old truck and has almost 200K miles so it is nearing it's end of service life.

I would say just get a tune up and drive it till it dies or trade it in for a used smaller car or truck don't put to much money into it for rust repairs.

if you have a welder just take a wire brush to those spots get it cleaned up then cut a piece of 1/8 plate steel weld up the holes with it and spray the area with rustoleum.

They are bump stops to inhibit too much suspension travel. They don't add to the integrity of the frame but they do prevent a degree of damage when the wheel encounters a large object or void. I wouldn't worry too much about it.

They're the frame bump stops. The rubber snubber on the lower control arm comes in contact to keep with the stops to keep your truck from bottoming out. If they're no worse than they look in the pics and you see no other rust in the frame, it's nothing to worry about. Just keep on driving it.

Not sure how a tune up would help though

ohh that was from what he said in an other thread that he was getting terrible fuel mileage and wanted to get better MPG without doing a proper tune-up.

he seems to be having tons of trouble with his truck thats why I was saying it was near the end of it's service life. unless he wanted to dump a bunch of $$$ into it and keep it or just drive it till it dies.
