I got a chicken sandwhich from Burger King today, its been awhile since I ate one,I remember they had intense flavor and they were cut in half ,now it is smaller so they dont cut it in half and it lacks flavor.

I also noticed one of the meals I get at Chiles got smaller,I just can remember what it was.

anyone else notice foods getting smaller?

I haven't noticed myself...however I do remember reading an article on shrinking restaurant meals.

I've watched the restaurant meals (and the girth of the American public) grow for decades to the point that they were, actually, a lot more food than we should be eating at one meal.

If they're getting smaller, this could, in truth, be a good thing. But losing flavor at the same time? That's not necessary at all.

Yeah, I experienced it yesterday myself. Also, when I lived up near Canada and went to Canada often, due to their economy and food prices there, the portions were always smaller.

I watched a new program about two weeks ago and they said that restaurants to match rising food costs are getting quite tricky. For example, they are using smaller plates to make you feel like you are still getting the same amount of food. They are substituting certain meats for something cheaper or a smaller cut for the same price like, filet mignon 8 oz being reduced to 6 oz at same cost. I even heard some places are looking into different types of "lighter" weight metals to make forks so that when you are eating, the food feels heavy and makes you think you are still eating well. That one was a stretch for me but I've also heard you might order one type of fish and then they substitute with a cheaper type. It doesn't surprise me that you felt the sandwich was smaller. I think everywhere is cutting corners where they can to not lose money.

Here is some more regarding the fish:

I noticed the crust was thinner on my pizza a few weeks ago because wheat is so expensive right now. I try to buy produce locally as much as possible to reduce the demand and cost of folod overall. Every bit helps.

I have. Dairy Queens fish sandwhich is half the size it used to be, but their steak fingers are twice the size now though.

I noticed it in the ice cream aisle. I usually buy Dreyer's or Edy's and last week I noticed that the package of ice cream was a lot smaller and for the same price.
