Had a chance to chat with both of my kids (daughter at breakfast, son on the phone this afternoon), got to the co-op for a few things we can't find at the grocery store, and beyond that, it's just been a quiet, calm day. Mr. Tuxedo cat is purring in my lap with his head burrowed into my elbow, I've got a nice cuppa tea on the table beside me, and I'm thinking we'll heat up the leftover sausage-garbanzo bean-spinach-potato soup with a loaf of nice crusty bread.

At our ages, Valentine's Day is more about the comfort of two people who've been together for over three decades and still enjoy each other's company than it is about roses and fancy dinners out. So leftover soup and good crusty bread is a good way to celebrate the day.
Love that last paragraph. That is just the best! I'm very happy for you. Just perfect - the being together and a simple delicious dinner like that.

Steak, french fries, salad, and brownie. Blame yankeegirl for the steak inspiration.

I don't have to cook tonight. My parents have a VDAY dinner for the kids all planned. So, we will be heading over there. The kids have been running on hearts and sugar for the past two days and I am waiting to see how they are today. I really don't like being a party pooper but OMG I am not a parent who provides sugar all the time. My kids don't digest it really well and they are wound like tops. So when they get it on days like Parties at school or like Valentines Chocolates.... they are spinning! It doesn't take a lot either. My friend jokes that if I actually baked the kids would be able to process the sugar better.... LOL..... oh well...... Alright.... I have to go and make breakfast....

I know what you are saying skbs! My grandaughter is the same way on sugar. She just spins! Now why can't it have that same effect on me??

Hope everyone had a wonderful Valentines Day!

Default The Agenda - Week of February 15 - 22

This week's dinner possibilities will include some special pecan-crusted trout and I plan to steam some sweet, green peas to go with it. Also on the menu will be Salisbury steak, but I haven't decided on a side item there. After a brief work day today, I'm stopping by Market Street to see what is cooking there, and I can let you know later what that item is, because it will be a hard decision. In addition, I'll be preparing for vacation this coming week, too, so cooking later in the week will likely be at a minimum.

Have a great time at the dinner table with what you're having, and bon appetit!

Just had a call that my grand daughter is sick so she and her Mom won't be able to come to the Mexican buffet ..... I heard a request for "doggie bags" from my DIL in the back ground while I was speaking to my son....I sure have plenty to pack up for her. I am dissappointed she cant come......she is so helpful ..... and is also thinking of doing some painting and will be interested in seeing our colors....but another day.

It has been a lot of prep work....but it has all come together....and now just have to put the dishes in the oven, Broil the carne asada flank steak, make the rice and toss the salad which has been washed and spun and is crisping in the fridge....The pitcher of Margurerita's are out on the deck with the Corona Beer keeping cool.
