In-N-Out fans are just as bad as iPhone 4 fans. (burger, tomatoes, butter)

I get what the OP is saying. I've never eaten at an In-N-Out, don't think we even have them there.
I've never been a bandwagon/fad type person- I was the little girl who hung her cousin's Cabbage Patch Kids from the closet light fixture (as high as I could reach) 'cause I got so danged sick of hearing everyone go bat**** crazy about it.
Same thing here for Pal's Sudden Service. People go nuts over it- we tried it when it first opened, thought it nasty. A few years later, tried it again, thinking it must be new restaurant jitters-same result.
Not to mention, if people were discussing it to THIS extent, it had to be cutting into the work day somewhat.
Six of them went on for about 15 minutes nonstop about how great it was. I had two people ask me if something was wrong with me for not liking it, which is what started the nonsense...I told them that the place is about as basic as it gets. And yes, I do remember when the patties were larger and the prices lower. Now it's no bigger or tastier than McD's double cheeseburger. People just like the fact the patty is salty.
We did In-and-Out a few weeks ago...I was not impressed with the burger, though was a good price...I don't eat fries, but they were pretty good....Just not impressed and really disappointed with the good reviews they have gotten...now off to Sonic at some point...
I'm with OP on the fries. I know they are fresher I see the kid in there jamming potatoes into a machine, but I like the texture and crisp of the McDonalds & Burger King fries better even if they do come frozen in a big bag.

And they all think Sonic is not that good.
While it's true that Sonic has gone downhill since the late 80's/early 90's (no more scantily clad chicks on skates? Really?), I'd still take their Super Sonic on Texas Toast over what In-N-Out's pushing. Sonic's Coney spanks anything Der Wienerschnitzel has to offer which is sad. Sonic has more drink selections, and their tater tots are to die for. And they have CHICKEN sandwiches unlike that other joint.
1. Just enough beef, not to large of a patty
2. Perfect texture to the bun, its always uniformly toasted, slightly crispy yet it still yields nicely when you bite it
3. Large, thick , crisp ring of onion
4. They always have great staff, the order is almost always correct. Staff speak english flawlessly, most fast food joints have latin staff that routinely screw up my order.
5. Great milkshakes
6. Cheap!
If you don't like them, don't eat them. I personally would prefer In-N-Out if I wanted a fast food burger. FYI...In-N-Out pays their employees the highest wages than the others and always has
No in-n-out here on the East Coast, but we have 5 guys. I recall having in-n-out during my time out West years ago and it was great. That's one of the firs places I will visit when I return!
OP, I have to tell you that the headline made me laugh because I immediately understand your meaning.
I am as unequally unsure why people think In N Out is such a big deal as I am why they like Apple so much. Both are solid products but certainly not worth the praise and adoration heaped upon them by the media and public.
I like In-N-Out burgers better than Mcdonald's, Burger King ect... To me In-N-Out burgers just taste better.
