How has Senator Bill Nelson managed to remain in office all these years? Is he perceived as a moderate, “Blue Dog” Democrat who can count on some Republican support?

Bill Nelson cares about Floridians and Florida's environment. He wants Floridians to have access to healthcare even if they have a pre-existing condition. He was always against oil drilling off Florida's coast. His opponent, Rick Scott, supported oil drilling off Florida's coast until he was forced to change positions after the oil spill in the Gulf.

Floridians of all parties care about Florida's environment. Floridians of all parties don't want people with pre-existing conditions to lose their health insurance solely due to having a pre-existing condition.

These are some of the reasons that Floridians have consistently supported Bill Nelson. He didn't change his positions on issues due to an election; he has always had these positions and voters know this.

Red Tide Rick Scott cares more about corporations and gives them a pass for polluting Florida's land, air and water. Bill Nelson protects Florida's environment.

How many times does Trump and other Republican leaders have to publicly claim they will not allow insurors to discriminate against Americans w/ pre-existing conditions for Dems to believe it? EVERY speech Trump gives he says it, and to resounding applause. It's ancient history...it's nearly unanimous. It might be the only thing both parties agree upon.

I can't argue for Rick Scott's environmental stance. I'm like most Floridians...I don't place the environment in my top 5 issues. I think its beautiful here.

Nelson's too old, and is a Chuck Shumer lapdog voting as Shumer dictates nearly ever time. That is NOT local representation.

If Nelson's elected, he'll be 84 after his term. Crap, I'm in my 50's & can't remember where I put my keys, or phone, at times.

I wish Rick Scott hadn't won the Primary election, but he did, so I have no choice. I'm sure not voting for Shumer after what he did to Judge Kavanaugh in front of his wife and children...disgraceful.

Nelson is an old hand in Florida politics. He was first elected to office in 1972 as a state representative. I guess he’s changed with the state.

In addition to losing your keys and phone, it appears you're also having trouble reading Florida's ballot.

"Shumer" isn't on the Florida ballot.

Nelson votes as Shumer dictates ~95% of the time, so Dems might as well be voting for Shumer. Sorry that confused you

You might mean Schumer? He also cares about people with pre-existing conditions and also cares about the environment. Kudos to Schumer and Nelson who don't want oil drilling off Florida's coast. Sure beats Red Tide Rick who supported oil drilling off Florida's coast until he was forced to change positions after the big oil spill.

Rick Scott supports oil drilling

You do know that since Obama cut off oil drilling in the waters off of Florida that Russia and China moved right in to to take over our rigs and wells right? Yep, just off the Cuban Coast ~50 miles from Miami. Talk about shooting yourself in the foot!

Shumer, Schumer...what's the diff?

Heck, on a clear day, you can "C" the Red hammer & sickle on the ships passing by off of South Beach carrying our oil away.

Red Tide Rick Scott was ok with oil drilling 3 miles off the Florida coast. Rick Scott doesn't care about the Florida environment . Oil rigs would be the new view from the beach in Florida if Rick Scott got his way.

That's one of the many reasons Floridian's choose Bill Nelson over Rick Scott. Bill Nelson has always been against oil drilling off Florida's coast. Bill Nelson always supports Florida's environment. Red Ride Rick Scott allows Big Sugar companies to spew runoff into the waterways, making Red Tide worse. This is having a negative impact on Florida's sea life as well as causing major financial losses in the Florida tourism industry.

That's why voters like Bill Nelson. He cares about Florida's environment and it's not just for the campaign season.
