Are there really no jobs in Florida or is it really no "big pay" jobs?
I'm in NY and everyone is whining about there being "no" jobs, but when you dig further you find out that it's really about no jobs in certain fields, mainly the stuff that pays big money, mostly white collar stuff.
By me, there is no shortage of work for people who don't mind getting their hands dirty in the blue collar trades. Or, retail, which notoriously pays crap but it's still a job.
So what is the real deal?

Larger cities may have high paying jobs, but outside that not so much!

If you have the correct experience and education, there are good jobs. People complaining either are trying to get jobs they simply don't qualify for, so it wouldn't make a difference if they lived in NYC or Miami. I would say the ceiling is lower though compared to major cities like NYC and SF.

People who sit around and whine about there being no 'big pay jobs' (in Florida or anywhere else) are unlikely to qualify for 'big pay jobs' anywhere. People who are qualified to do those jobs are very much in demand ... and also know that those jobs are not the 'low hanging fruit' one finds by simply mailing-out resumes and spending time in HR departments.

There are plenty of jobs in Florida, including 'big pay jobs' -- and then, like anywhere else, there are a ton of mediocre, low paying jobs available to those who simply follow the crowd. There are 'no jobs' for those with few qualifications and limited skills ... who hang-out in their parent's basement, hoping someone will call them on the phone -- 'begging' them to take a high-paying, no skills required job.

Yep, I would be willing to bet that 90% of these people wouldn't get a big paying job if they moved to San Francisco, Seattle, San Jose, NYC, Boston etc. It's the case of the grass is greener on the other side.

There are some "big paying jobs" in Florida . The issue is that there are many more people applying for them than there are openings and if you're a mid-career (or higher) professional the odds are most against you as many companies are opting for the cheaper way out (qualified, but minus the years of experience).

There are good paying jobs in Florida, mostly in the medical field which is booming and will continue to boom as baby boomers retire and we move closer and closer to single payer.

Other professions as well but I'd say you're a bit limited in FL, much like many other medium to small cities. Florida does have far more low paying service jobs due to our high amount of visitors. It's not a bad place to live and work you just have to make sure you fit the profile because if you're looking to make 100k shuffling paper as an MBA there are other cities that offer more opportunity for that.

There are plenty of good paying jobs in the SKILLED trades and professions. If your experience is as a laborer and you don't have any certifications or licenses in the trades (ie plumber, electrician, mechanic with ASE certs, HVAC, etc.) then the jobs available don't pay well. They aren't going to pay people a lot of money when anyone off the street can learn the job in a day or two.
