If you go north of 98, and the west side of town, there are a number of smallish condo and townhome complexes that tend to be moderate income long term rentals that aren't what you'd think of with Destin. I'm not really familiar with individual complex names, but I know the broad area where they exist. (and that there are a couple of pretty ugly small trailer parks that Have Issues) Nothing horrible compared to bigger cities, but you do have petty crime problems and the odd meth lab singlewide.

The bigger concern, IMO, is just how low to sea level the Holiday Isle area of Destin is. Lots of problems with roads going underwater there during even moderate tropical storms.
