You most definitely are not wrong. You may be able to find a small 1 bedroom apartment for 1000 a month but you won't have much to chose from. We live here in Key West and I have to tell you if you do not like to go to bars and party alot, than Key West isn't really the ideal place for you. My husband is in the military and we are stationed here and I am not a fan of the area. It is a huge tourist town and not much else. The beaches aren't great and it's crowded with tourists all year round. If your looking for a nice relaxing tropical town than Key West is not for you. I would recommend looking at some of the other keys. Perhaps Islemorada, Marathon or Key Largo. However if you were looking for a party town than Key West is definitely for you, there is always something to do on Duval as far as that. Goodluck!

You can't be a miser and live in Key West.

$800 for a 1br can be had most places in FL. Maybe not Miami. Or not where you want to live in Miami. Location location location.

Re: Arizona suggestion. Uh, they get snow. Not at all the climate of FL. NM has Albuquerque. Though, as I said, not FL weather.

City Climate Comparisons
Wow, I never looked up Seattle's weather. Cooooold.

I remember the chickens running about.

Free fried chicken for all the misers perhaps?
